Alberta’s Finance Minister Joe Ceci released Budget 2018 on March 22, 2018.  Deputy Minister Lorna Rosen will discuss Alberta’s economic outlook as the province continues to recover from a two year recession caused by the collapse in global oil prices in 2014 and 2015.  She will also discuss the government’s response to the downturn and recovery as the government commits to balancing the budget by 2023-24.

Lorna Rosen is the Deputy Minister for Treasury Board and Finance and started in this position in May 2016.  Lorna first became a member of the Alberta Public Service in January 2015 when she was appointed Deputy Minister of Education. She is passionate about public service and believes in giving back to the greater community.

Lorna was the City Manager for the City of Fort Saskatchewan and then transitioned to the City of Edmonton in 2008; first as the General Manager of Asset Management and Public Works and then in 2010 moved to the role of Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer/General Manager of Financial Services and Utilities.

Lorna began her career in the education sector, serving as Internal Auditor for Edmonton Public Schools, Secretary-Treasurer for the Wild Rose School Division and Associate Superintendent of Operations for St. Albert Protestant Schools prior to moving to the municipal government sector.
