Summary

Arthur Sweetman is a professor in the Department of Economics at McMaster University in Hamilton where he holds the Ontario Research Chair in Health Human Resources and is also a member of the Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis (CHEPA). Previously he was Director of the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University where he held the Stauffer-Dunning Chair in Policy Studies.

Professor Sweetman obtained his PhD in economics at McMaster University. His research focuses primarily on empirical approaches to economic policy issues — especially health economics, immigration, education and social policy — and he has an interest in quantitative program evaluation.

He is currently one of the co-editors of the Canadian Journal of Economics, and he has co-edited 10 books and 5 special issues of journals including a special issue of the CJE on the economics of immigration that is currently underway.
