Summary

As Senior Vice President, Business Development, Derrick sets and executes distribution strategy for our Group Benefits, Group Retirement and Creditor businesses. His team is comprised of Strategy, Marketing and Communications, and Client/Advisor facing professionals. Together they bring our Canada Life brand promise to life, finding innovative solutions for advisors, clients and consultants.
Derrick’s career in the financial services sector spans over 30 years. Through his career he has obtained a wide variety of skills and experience on both the corporate and advisor/consultant sides of the business. His experience as an advisor and account manager have served him well in understanding the needs of the advisor and client community. As a co-founder and CEO of Groupworks Financial Corp., one of the first Pension and Benefits aggregators in Canada, he understands firsthand the rapidly changing dynamics of the distribution landscape. He has also been fortunate to have held national leadership roles at another major Canadian Lifeco, with national leadership roles in Group Benefits, Group Retirement and Individual Distribution.


He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, honours degree with a major in Finance from Queen’s University and carries a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation.
