May 22, 2014 - William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, today announced the appointment of distinguished economics professor Kevin Milligan as a Fellow-in-Residence.

"Kevin Milligan is highly accomplished, with a keen sense for policy relevant topics in public and labour economics. His expertise in tax and labour market issues, and his focus on human capital - including the economics of children and the elderly - will be a valuable asset to the Institute," said Robson.

Kevin Milligan is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver School of Economics. Since 2011, he has served as Co-Editor of the Canadian Tax Journal, and is also affiliated with the National Bureau of Economic Research.

He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a UBC Killam Research Prize, the Doug Purvis Memorial Prize for research on Canadian public policy, the Harry Johnson Prize for best article in the Canadian Journal of Economics, and the Kendrick Prize for best article in the Review of Income and Wealth

In addition to his appointment as Fellow-in-Residence, Professor Milligan will also serve as an academic advisor to the C.D. Howe Institute's Fiscal and Tax Competitiveness program.

Professor Milligan studied at Queen's University and the University of Toronto, receiving his Ph.D. in 2001. His thesis was awarded the 2002 National Tax Association dissertation award.
