The federal government, and some provincial ones, want Canadians to greatly increase the number of zero-emissions motor vehicles they buy – such as those powered by electric batteries. While battery-electric and hybrid vehicle sales have risen in recent years, Canadians still greatly prefer gasoline-powered versions.
