The C.D. Howe Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Cross, until recently the Chief Economic Analyst at Statistics Canada, as a Senior Fellow, focusing on the study of business cycles and economic indicators.
"Phil Cross brings to the Institute the expertise gleaned over a distinguished, 35-year career at Statistic Canada," said Finn Poschmann, the Institute's Vice President, Research. "His work is top-notch, and has a strong profile among business and policy leaders."
Prior to his appointment as Chief Economic Analyst in 2008, Mr. Cross was responsible for writing the "Current Economic Conditions" section of the Canadian Economic Observer, which provides Statistics Canada's view of the macro-economy. He also played a leading role in ensuring the coherency and quality of data and research in the National Accounts and Analytical Studies.
The C. D. Howe Institute is an independent not-for-profit organization that aims to raise Canadians' living standards by fostering economically sound public policies. It is a trusted source of essential policy intelligence, with research that is rigorous, evidence-based, and peer-reviewed, recommendations that are relevant, constructive, and timely, and communications that are clear, authoritative and practical.
