July 15, 2019 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of Joanne De Laurentiis as a Senior Fellow.

“Joanne’s extensive experience in financial markets, investments, payments and deposit-taking make her a respected voice on regulatory policy and the financial sector generally,” said Robson. “We are delighted to welcome her as a Senior Fellow.”

Retired in 2016 as President & CEO of the Investment Funds Institute (IFIC), Joanne De Laurentiis spent her entire career representing financial institutions and engaging, on their behalf, with a wide range of provincial and federal regulatory and government bodies in the development of sound regulatory and public policy.

Before joining IFIC in 2006 she served as CEO of Credit Union Central of Canada, Mondex Canada and Interac; as Vice-President of Public Affairs for the Canadian Bankers Association; and chief of staff to the Honourable Robert Elgie, Minister in the Ontario Government. She holds a Masters in Political Science from Western University.

In retirement she continues to provide regulatory and policy advice and serves on several public and not-for-profit boards including the Toronto Transit Commission and the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education.
