June 29, 2021 – William Robson, CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of John Richards as a Research Fellow.
“John has been a key contributor to the C.D. Howe Institute’s research program for decades,” commented Robson. “We have benefited from his insights on education, income distribution, indigenous issues, federalism, and more. We look forward to continued collaboration.”
John Richards is Professor, Public Policy Program, at Simon Fraser University. He co-edits (with Henry Milner) Inroads, a Canadian policy journal. Richards has written extensively on social policy in Canada; however, his current social policy focus is international.
Richards’ latest book, on the serious problems facing primary education in South Asia, co-written with Manzoor Ahmed and Shahidul Islam, will be published by University of Toronto press later in 2021. Richards is currently engaged in evaluation of a large NGO education program in Bangladesh. The program is attempting to re-integrate into school 60,000 children who dropped out of school at Grade 2 or 3.
