Donald ReimerNovember 20, 2023 – The C.D. Howe Institute mourns the death of Donald S. Reimer, who passed away on November 12th, 2023.

The founder of Reimer Express Lines Ltd., and Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Reimer World Corp, Reimer served as a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s board of directors since his appointment in November 2006.

“Donald Reimer was an extraordinary entrepreneur, a strong voice for the trucking industry and for Manitoba, and relentless in his insistence on excellence, including in Canadian public policy,” said William B.P. Robson, CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute. “We are grateful to have had his support and advice, and extend our condolences and best wishes to his family, friends and associates.”

Reimer also previously held positions as President and Chairman of the Canadian Trucking Association for two separate terms; Chairman and President of San Francisco-based Western Highway Institute; on the Board of Directors of the American Trucking Association Foundation; Chairman of the Federal Transportation Sectorial Advisory Group on Trade; and a member of the International Trade Advisory Committee (NAFTA).

He also served on the Board of Governors of the Bank of Canada, the University of Manitoba, St. John’s-Ravenscourt School and as a Director of the Health Sciences Centre Research Foundation.
