Joel Schlesinger of the Winnipeg Free Press cites Colin Busby, Policy Analyst at the C.D. Howe Institute, in his October 5, 2008 column, which states that tax-free savings accounts (TFSA) will significantly increase the retirement savings of individuals. Busby states that TFSA’s offer increased savings for Canadians as they remove the penalties associated with withdrawing funds from RRSPs or the Canada Child Care Tax Benefit, which can be extremely beneficial for low-income families.
