September 16, 2020 – The C.D. Howe Institute and Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO) have teamed up to provide six paid internships for public policy and economics graduates at Canada’s most respected think tank.

The six interns are working alongside the Institute’s research team on a number of projects, focusing on topics such as the changing shape of the economy post-COVID-19, and covering areas such as energy policy, trade and investment, infrastructure, and financial services.

“My colleagues and I at the C.D. Howe Institute are delighted to have the IMCO Policy Research Interns at the Institute,” said C.D. Howe Institute CEO William B.P. Robson. “Their work on the impact of COVID-19 on our economy, and charting a path through the post-pandemic world, will yield valuable insights for Canadians. It is a pleasure to partner with IMCO to create opportunities for these graduates, and support the next generation of policy leaders in Canada.”

“On behalf of IMCO, I’d like to extend our warmest congratulations to the six outstanding Ontario university graduates who have earned their place at the C.D. Howe Institute as IMCO Policy Research Interns,” said Michael Campbell, Chief Client Officer, IMCO. “We look forward to seeing the insights their work will produce, and are proud to support the development of public policy in Canada.”

With the continuing COVID-19 pandemic limiting opportunities for graduating university students, IMCO is supporting internships for outstanding recent graduates of policy and economic programs. These internships will allow them to gain practical experience while having a unique opportunity to inform debates over economic and social policy work in Canada. In the process, the graduates have the chance to work with, and be mentored by, the C.D. Howe Institute’s research team and collaborate on research projects.

The IMCO Policy Research Interns are: Joel Balyk, Elodie Girves, Rhys Godin, Sana Maqbool, Linda Yang, and Luc Zara.
