February 17, 2022 – William Robson, CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the re-appointment of Janet Davidson as a Fellow-in-Residence.

“Janet cares deeply about the quality of healthcare in Canada, and her extensive experience makes her a first-rate source of advice about how best to improve it,” said Robson. “The C.D. Howe Institute benefits from her contributions, notably as a member of its Health Policy Council. We look forward to continued collaboration with her.”

Ms. Janet Davidson works in health care consulting with a focus on strategy, organization management and design, as well as governance.

Davidson has over 40 years of experience in healthcare in the government, voluntary and hospital/community sectors in a number of Canadian jurisdictions and internationally.

Former Deputy Minister of Health for Alberta, CEO of Trillium Health Centre and COO of Vancouver Coastal Health, Davidson has held numerous other leadership positions in Canadian jurisdictions.

She recently completed a five-year term as Board Chair of the Canadian Institute for Health Information and currently holds the roles of Chair of the Board of the Nova Scotia Health Authority and Canada’s New Digital Research Infrastructure Organization.

She is also a Board Member of Bayshore Healthcare and the Hospital for Sick Children, and serves as a Senior Fellow with the C.D. Howe Institute, where she sits on the Institute’s Health Policy Council.

Janet received a Bachelor of Nursing Science from the University of Windsor and a Master’s in Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta. She is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors’ Education program at Rotman, the UC Berkeley School of Public Health’s Global Health Leadership program and has an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Windsor. 

An Officer of the Order of Canada, Janet has been selected for Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women and Canada’s Top 25 Most Influential Women lists twice.
