January 15, 2020 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of Wendy Levinson as a Senior Fellow.

“Wendy’s expertise in healthcare delivery and strategy are first-rate, and her leadership in some of the toughest professional and ethical challenges facing healthcare providers and patients makes her a critical source of insights,” said Robson. “The C.D. Howe Institute’s healthcare policy program will be all the stronger with her input.”

Dr. Wendy Levinson is a Professor of Medicine and Past Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is a national and international expert in the field of physician-patient communication, studying topics including the disclosure of medical errors to patients and informed decision making. She is presently the Chair of Choosing Wisely Canada, a campaign to help physicians and patients engage in conversations about unnecessary tests, treatments and procedures.  She also chairs and is coordinating Choosing Wisely International, a collaboration of the Choosing Wisely campaigns in over 20 countries worldwide. In 2014, Dr. Levinson was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada for her work.
