Praise for the Institute

I support the C.D. Howe Institute because Canada desperately needs its high-quality, nonpartisan and evidence-driven research.

The C.D. Howe Institute played an important role for the 2015 budget commitment which exempts donations involving private company shares and real estate from capital gains tax.

I support the C.D. Howe Institute because Canada needs  clear, unbiased,  and factual research on the major issues facing this country. C.D. Howe delivers this in spades.   While there is little doubt that some of the conclusions are not well received, the rigour of the analysis can hardly be disputed!

For decades, the C.D. Howe Institute has been one of Canada’s leading think tanks, contributing enormously to policy debates and inspiring positive reforms for Canadians. I am keen to contribute in areas that I have focused on over 25 years in public life, including immigration, labour markets and skills, fiscal policy, internal trade, and indigenous economic development.

Given the aging of the Canadian population, retirement income security is likely to be one of the most important public policy issues we will face for the next couple of decades. The C. D. Howe Institute has played a leading role in providing a forum to bring together different expert viewpoints on how to evolve public policy in this important area. It is an honour to be given an opportunity to contribute insights into this work.
