Adam Blinick, Director, Public Affairs, Uber Canada

Adam Blinick is the Director of Public Affairs for Uber Canada. From August 2014 to December 2015, Adam Senior Public Policy Manager for Canada, the Midwest and Texas, headquartered in Chicago. Prior to joining Uber, Adam held many senior roles in the Canadian government, including Deputy Chief of Staff to the Minister of Public Safety, Director of Policy to the Minister of Transport, and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister. Adam holds a Masters in International Affairs from the George Washington University.

 

Don Forgeron, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Bureau of Canada

IBC’s President and CEO since 2009, Don Forgeron has a successful track record of more than 25 years in the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. He has a strong foundation in the public and private sectors, having worked for Alberta’s Department of Environment and the National Research Council in Nova Scotia early in his career.

As President and CEO, Don works with governments and key stakeholders across the country to build a strong, stable P&C industry and a stronger and safer Canada. He is leading a national conversation on the need to better prepare Canada for an earthquake and he continues to push for a national dialogue with governments and consumers on the need for severe weather adaptation.

Don is active internationally on behalf of Canada’s P&C insurance industry to provide input to international regulatory bodies. He is a founding member of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations and leads an international working group focused on disruption.  

 

Barrie Kirk, Executive Director, Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence

Barrie Kirk, P.Eng. is the Executive Director of the Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence (CAVCOE). He has worked in the technology industries in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., including senior management positions in Ottawa-area companies. He is a well-known consultant, speaker and broadcaster on automated, connected and electric vehicles. He is on the Board of Directors of Unmanned Systems Canada and is a member of the Automotive Advisory Board of Centennial College. Barrie received a B.Sc. (Honours) in Electrical Engineering from Coventry University, U.K. and is a Professional Engineer.
