Christine Hogan, Deputy Minister of International Trade

On January 6, 2015, the Prime Minister appointed Christine Hogan as Deputy Minister of International Trade, effective January 21, 2015.

Ms. Hogan began her career with the Public Service of Canada in 1988 as a project officer working on Canada–United States Great Lakes issues at Environment Canada. During her career she has contributed to a diverse set of public policy issues ranging from international relations and development to science and technology to environment and energy.

Previously, Christine Hogan has served as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Minister of the Environment as well as Director of International Policy at Environment Canada, as a senior advisor at Industry Canada and Director of Operations (Priorities and Planning) in the Privy Council Office. In 2007, Christine was appointed Vice-President of Strategic Policy and Performance at the former Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and in 2010, she returned to the Privy Council Office as Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet and then Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister (2011-2015).

Christine has also been a Visiting Executive with EnCana Corporation, based in Calgary, Alberta, and served as an advisor to the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.

She holds a Bachelor of Public Administration (Honours) degree from Carleton University and is a Yale University World Fellow.
