Monday April 15, 2013 - Toronto Roundtable Event - The Shared Canada-US Vision: Regulatory Cooperation Council and Beyond the Border Action Plans

 

Mr. Moloney discussed progress and next steps concerning both initiatives, which focus on increased cooperation not just at the border, but behind and beyond the border to enhance our competitiveness, security and the legitimate flow of people, goods and services.

David Moloney was appointed as Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office by the Prime Minister effective on January 3, 2012.  At PCO, Mr. Moloney leads a team that coordinates the Government of Canada’s implementation of the Perimeter Security and Economic Competitiveness Border Action Plan and of the joint Action Plan for the Canada-United States Regulatory Cooperative Council, both of which were launched in December 2011.  He comes to the Privy Council Office from the Canadian International Development Agency where he was named the Executive Vice-President effective April 14, 2009.  Prior to his appointment to CIDA he was the Assistant Deputy Minister, Industry Sector at Industry Canada.

An economist by training, Mr. Moloney’s career with the federal government spans some 30 years, beginning at the Bank of Canada, before he joined Finance Canada in 1988.  He has worked at all three central agencies of the Government as well as line departments.  He has served as Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Liaison Secretariat for Macroeconomic Policy, at the Privy Council Office, as Vice-President, Policy, at Canadian International Development Agency and as Assistant Secretary, Expenditure and Management Strategies Sector at the Treasury Board Secretariat.
