Simon Gaudreault, Chief Economist and Vice-President, Research, Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB)

Simon Gaudreault is the Chief Economist and Vice-President, Research for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). He is responsible for conducting research and lobbying on a variety of economic, commercial, political and social issues affecting SMEs across Canada. Simon is also a national spokesperson for CFIB. In this capacity, he is an occasional media commentator on news relating to SMEs and economics.


Simon joined CFIB in April 2011 as an economist. He assumed direction of national research in 2018 and was appointed to his current position in 2022.

Prior to joining CFIB, Simon worked as a consultant for the local economic development office of Manicouagan from 2008-2009, assisting entrepreneurs with their business plans and playing a key role in the economic diversification strategy for Manicouagan Regional County Municipality.

Simon also has experience in municipal issues. He worked as a research and studies advisor in the Office of the Manager of the City of Laval (2009-2011), as an analyst at the consulting firm Pierre Prévost Conseil (2006-2007), and as a finance and tax advisor for the Transition Committee of the Greater Montreal Area (2004-2005).

Simon holds an Honours BA in Economics from the University of Ottawa and an MSc in Economics from l'Université du Québec à Montréal. His Master's thesis is on entrepreneurship in outlying regions of Canada.


Stephen Mill, President, Robert Half

With more than 25 years of progressive experience in all areas of human capital solutions, Stephen Mill brings an unrivaled depth of expertise to his role as Canadian President of Executive Search. Under Stephen’s collaborative, resourceful, and solution-oriented leadership, Toronto-based Robert Half Executive Search is a Canadian market leader in the field of C-level retained search.


Stephen began his career in the human capital industry at Robert Half. He rose to the rank of Senior Regional Vice President, growing multiple lines of business across Canada and the North Eastern US. As the Canadian President of Futurestep, a division of Korn/Ferry, specializing in executive retained search, Stephen successfully launched and staffed offices in Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver and Calgary, increasing the Canadian team from two to 60 staff. As a member of the Canadian Korn/Ferry executive team, Stephen was responsible for the integration of multiple business lines as well as being a member of the global strategic account team.

Throughout his lengthy career in the industry, he has completed multiple leadership, communication and competency modelling courses with Harvard Business School, the Richard Ivey School of Business, and Decker Communications. Stephen is actively involved in a number of professional associations, and is often called upon to speak on hiring, recruiting, and retaining senior leadership teams.

For the past four years, Stephen has led the nomination committee and is an advisor to the selection committee for Canada’s CFO of the Year.


Angela Splinter, Chief Executive Officer, Trucking HR Canada

As CEO of Trucking HR Canada, Angela Splinter is the steward of talent management best practices for the trucking and logistics sector. Under Angela’s leadership, Trucking HR Canada has become a national centre of excellence where stakeholders in commercial transportation, public policy, training, and economic analysis work together to help trucking and logistics employers meet the growing demands of Canada’s freight economy and supply chain network.  Her tenure has spearheaded the development of the distinguished Women with Drive, Top Fleet Employers, and Career ExpressWay programs.

She holds her CITT Logistics Professional certification, sits on the C.D Howe Institute’s Human Capital Policy Council as well as the Supply Chain working group, and is a member of the Board of Directors for Lymphoma Canada.
