Inside Access: Unfair Advantage? School Fundraising and Student Results

Conference Call with David R. Johnson, Professor of Economics, Wilfrid Laurier University

Does better fundraising at some schools lead to higher student grades? Do schools where parents have deeper pockets have an unfair advantage over other schools? Prevailing opinion is that fundraising capabilities across public schools have a direct impact on education outcomes. This call will cover why fundraising actually plays only a minor role in making schools more unequal and why policymakers should therefore focus on other sources of the variation.
