James Moore, Minister of Industry

Toronto ON, 67 Yonge Street

Minister Moore was first elected as Member of Parliament for Port Moody–Westwood–Port Coquitlam, a suburb of Vancouver, in 2000. At the age of 24, he was the youngest Member of Parliament in British Columbia’s history, and he has been re-elected in every election since.

He was first appointed to Cabinet in 2008, as the Secretary of State for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and the Asia-Pacific Gateway. He was later appointed as Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. And in 2011 he was named Minister Responsible for British Columbia—the youngest regional minister in Canadian history.

In July 2013, Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed Minister Moore as the federal Minister of Industry.  Since his appointment, Minister Moore has worked to create policies that support jobs, growth and innovation in Canada’s key economic sectors including manufacturing and the digital economy.
