Leo joined Alberta Investment Management Corporation in August 2008. He started his 37 year career at the Bank of Canada in Ottawa, and subsequently assisted a number of Canadian and international corporations with economic analysis and asset management. For nearly 10 years, he was responsible for investment strategy, risk management, and real return assets at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Leo grew up in the Netherlands. He received a B.A. in economics from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin. Leo is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of Dutch pension fund APG.
