In Nov 2011, Dr. Stephen Flynn became the founding co-director of the George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security, at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.  He also had a co-appointment as Professor of Political Science.  The focus of the Kostas Institute is on informing and advancing societal and infrastructure resileince.  Prior to his leadership appointment at the new Kostas Institute, Flynn served as the sixth President of the Center for National Policy, a non-partisan think-tank in Washington, DC.  Before that he spent a decade as a senior fellow for National Security Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
