November 1, 2017 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of Alister Campbell as a Senior Fellow.

“Alister’s experience and insights from his career in life and property-casualty insurance will be hugely valuable to the C.D. Howe Institute’s work in these areas,” Robson said. “His keen interest in public policy and governance makes him a terrific addition to the Institute’s team.”

During his three-decade-long career, Campbell has served as a CEO of an FP 500 risk solutions company and led Canadian operations of a major global insurer. He has also held positions in general management, marketing, brokerage distribution strategy, financial services, and digital commerce.

Currently, Campbell serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Risk Institute in Financial Services. He previously chaired the Board of Directors of the Property & Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation and held a Deputy Chair of the Board position of the Insurance Bureau of Canada, a national association whose member companies represent 90% of the Canadian property and casualty insurance market.

Campbell graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. in economics and history. He holds a master’s degree in economic history from the London School of Economics, as well as an MBA in finance from the Wharton Graduate School of Business.
