July 29, 2015 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the re-appointment of Bev Dahlby as a Research Fellow.

“Bev has made seminal contributions to the C.D. Howe Institute’s research including his prize-winning research into the costs of taxation,” stated Robson. “We look forward to continuing a fruitful partnership.”

Past C.D. Howe Institute reports that he has co-authored include: “What Does it Cost Society to Raise a Dollar of Tax Revenue? The Marginal Cost of Public Funds,” and “Rethinking Royalty Rates: Why There Is a Better Way to Tax Oil and Gas Development.”

Dr. Dahlby is the Distinguished Fellow in Tax and Economic Growth at the School of Public Policy and Professor of Economics at the University of Calgary.

He has published extensively on tax policy and fiscal federalism and has served as a policy advisor to the federal and provincial governments. His international experience includes advisory work on tax reform for the IMF in Malawi, for the Thailand Development Research Institute, and for the World Bank in Brazil. In 2010-11, Bev was a member of the Jenkins Panel on federal support to research and development, and he is currently a member of Statistics Canada’s advisory council.

He received his Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.
