“John was a pillar of support for the C.D. Howe Institute,” said William Robson, President and CEO of the Institute.

The Board and Staff of the C.D. Howe Institute mourn the passing of former Institute Chair, John McNeil.

“John was a pillar of support for the C.D. Howe Institute,” said William Robson, President and CEO of the Institute. “He was acutely aware of how important good public policy has been to Canada's past successes, and keen to ensure future prosperity. He valued facts, rigorous analysis, and intelligent debate. And he was a valued friend. My colleagues and I offer our sympathy to his family and the many people who worked with, knew, and admired him.”

Mr. McNeil served on the Institute’s Board of Directors from 1988 to 1999, and as Chair of the Board from 1993 to 1995.He also Chaired the Executive Committee of the British-North American Committee, which supported important work on such matters as international investment flows, science policy, and trans-Atlantic free trade.
