April 26, 2016 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, congratulates Daniel Trefler, Professor of Business Economics at the University of Toronto, for winning the Bank of Canada Fellowship Award.   

“Dan is widely recognized as an intellectual leader, notably in the links between international trade and productivity,” remarked Robson. “We congratulate him for this well-deserved recognition.”

Dan Trefler is a C.D. Howe Institute Research Fellow and a member of the Institute’s International Economic Policy Council. He is also a Research Fellow both at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research and at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Canadian Economics Association’s Innis Award and the McDonald Award for contributions to early childhood advocacy.

He received his PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Bank of Canada Fellowship Award provides financial support to academics who are widely recognized for their expertise and excellence in areas important to the Bank's mandate, and who are undertaking leading-edge research that contributes to the development of knowledge and research capabilities in those areas.
