February 22, 2016 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of Drew Fagan, former Ontario Deputy Minister for the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, as a Senior Fellow.

“Drew is a highly accomplished public policy practitioner,” remarked Robson. “His understanding of issues concerning economic development, trade and infrastructure, coupled with his deep grasp of government operations, will make him an invaluable contributor to our work.”  

Drew Fagan has been a senior public servant at the provincial and federal levels.

As an Ontario deputy minister, he was most recently responsible for the highly successful 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. Previously, he was Deputy Minister of Infrastructure from 2010 to 2014. At the federal level, he served as Assistant Deputy Minister for policy and planning at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade from 2006 to 2009.

Before joining government in 2004, Mr. Fagan was a prominent journalist at The Globe and Mail, including as Ottawa bureau chief, editorial page editor and columnist, foreign editor, associate editor of Report on Business, and Washington correspondent.

In addition to his role at the C.D. Howe Institute, Mr. Fagan serves on numerous boards, including the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto and the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary.
