April 10, 2019 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of Hugh O’Reilly as a Senior Fellow.

“Hugh combines impressive wisdom and experience in pensions with broad interest in many policy areas affecting prosperity and Canadians’ incomes,” said Robson. “My colleagues and I look forward to working with him as a Senior Fellow with great enthusiasm.”

Hugh O'Reilly is one of Canada’s leading pension, pension investment and governance experts, and the former President and Chief Executive Officer of OPTrust. Prior to joining OPTrust, Hugh practiced law and achieved recognition as one of Canada’s foremost legal authorities in the field of pensions.

Hugh also served as a Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff to a Government of Ontario Cabinet Minister and a member of the TMX’s Advancing Innovation Roundtable. Hugh’s wide interests include market-based climate action, public policy and innovation.

Hugh has served on a number of Boards and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance.
