October 2nd, 2018 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of Kenneth J. McKenzie as a Fellow-in-Residence.  

“Ken’s expertise in public economics and fiscal policy is broad and deep,” commented Robson. “My colleagues and I have benefited from his theoretical and practical insights over many years, and we are happy to build on that collaboration with him as an Institute Fellow-in-Residence.” 

Kenneth J. McKenzie is a Professor in the Department of Economics and Distinguished Fellow in the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary. His principle area of research is public economics, with an emphasis in taxation. He has received the Harry Johnson Prize for the best article in the Canadian Journal of Economics (1996), and is a two time recipient of the Douglas Purvis Memorial Prize for a published work of excellence relating to Canadian public policy (1999, 2001). He has served as the EnCana Scholar at the C.D. Howe Institute, where he delivered the 2001 Benefactors Lecture.

Professor McKenzie has also acted as an advisor to governments and institutions at the international, federal and provincial levels.

He has served on the Executive Council of the Canadian Economics Association, and on the editorial boards of the Canadian Journal of Economics and Canadian Tax Journal. He was also Editor of the Canadian Public Policy journal.
