October 21, 2016 – The Board and Staff of the C.D. Howe Institute mourn the passing of former Institute Chair, Adam  Zimmerman.

“Adam had a keen appreciation of the importance of good public policy in Canada's prosperity. And he valued vigorous debate, always ready to hear, and engage with, views different from his own,” said William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute. “He was a good friend to the Institute, and to me personally. My colleagues and I offer our sympathy to his family and his many friends and admirers.”

Mr. Zimmerman served on the Institute’s Board of Directors from 1981 to 1999, during which he served as its Chair from 1990 – 1993. He also co-chaired the Canadian-American ‎Committee, which supported important work on Canada-US economic relations, and helped lay the groundwork for free trade between the two countries.
