November 2, 2015 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the re-appointment of Thomas Wilson, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto, as a Research Fellow.

“Tom Wilson has made huge contributions to our understanding of Canadian fiscal and macroeconomic policies,” stated Robson. “His participation makes the C.D. Howe Institute’s research program stronger, and we are delighted to continue the association.”

Dr. Wilson’s most recent Institute study is entitled: “Growth Oriented Sales Tax Reform for Ontario: Replacing the Retail Sales Tax with a 7.5 Percent Value-Added Tax.”

Dr. Wilson is an Emeritus Professor of Economics, and Senior Advisor to the Policy and Economic Analysis Program at the Rotman Institute for International Business at the University of Toronto.

His areas of research and consulting have included economic forecasting, fiscal policy analysis, tax policy analysis, wage-price models, regulatory proceedings, competition policy, advertising and industrial organization.

He obtained his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
