In this edition of Graphic Intelligence, we look at how electricity prices in Ontario have been rising steadily for the last decade, while they have been doing the opposite in the very similar market of Western New York.
So why is Ontario’s electricity now more expensive than Western New York's? Most of this has come down to the increasing cost of producing electricity itself, which is making Ontario look more and more out of step with its neighbours.
To read more about why Ontario’s electricity prices are on the rise, and what could be done to start addressing them, see the Intelligence Memos blog post, "Why is Ontario’s Electricity Now More Expensive than its Neighbour’s?", by Dachis, Jacobs and Muthukumaran.
