AI Adoption in Canada Could Reach 48% by 2036 – But Productivity Gains Modest Compared to G7 Peers

AI adoption among enterprises could reach 13 to 63 percent across G7 countries over the next decade, depending on adoption rates and technological progress. If adoption in Canada follows a similar timeline to the internet and computers, and AI capabilities continue to expand, estimates suggest that 48 percent of enterprises will adopt AI in the next decade, adding 0.9 percentage points to annual labour productivity growth. Canada is expected to have relatively modest productivity growth compared to international peers with similar (and slightly lower) adoption rates.
