Ari Pandes is an Associate Professor of Finance and Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business. He currently teaches Corporate Finance primarily in the Executive MBA and MBA programs, and has also taught courses at the PhD and senior undergraduate levels, as well as to corporate executives.
Ari’s research focuses on capital markets – specifically securities offerings (initial public offerings, seasoned equity offerings, and private placements), investment banking, and private equity and venture capital. He has presented this work at leading international finance conferences, universities around the world, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Canadian provincial securities regulators, the Bank of Canada, and various policy audiences. He is also a co-author of a leading introductory finance textbook.
Ari has received research funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Canadian Securities Institute Research Foundation, and the Global Risk Institute. His research on Canadian capital markets has twice earned the Bank of Canada Best Paper Award and has been recognized with the CFA Society Toronto–Hillsdale Canadian Investment Research Award.
Ari serves as an Expert Advisor at the Canadian Forum for Financial Markets (CFFiM). His research is frequently cited in the press, and he is a contributor to the Globe and Mail and the Financial Post. He also regularly undertakes finance consulting assignments.
