Summary

John Helliwell is a faculty member at the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.

He was previously visiting special advisor at the Bank of Canada in 2003-04, visiting research fellow of Merton College, Oxford, in 2003, of St. Catherine’s College, Oxford, in 2001, Mackenzie King Visiting Professor of Canadian Studies at Harvard in 1991-94, and a member of the National Statistics Council from 2001-2015.

He has written numerous books and journal articles, and is co-editor of the World Happiness Reports.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, an Officer of the Order of Canada and received his D.Phil. in Economics from Oxford.
