Summary
Ted Carmichael has advised Canadian federal and provincial policy makers, appeared before numerous parliamentary committees and been a regular media commentator on the economy.
Previously, he was Managing Director, Asset Mix & Capital Market Research at the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) from 2008-2013. He was Chief Canadian Economist for J.P Morgan Canada from 1994 to 1998. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 1994, Mr. Carmichael was Senior Economist and Director at Burns Fry Limited. He also held positions as Vice President and Director of Research at the C.D. Howe Institute; Senior Economist at Shell Canada Limited; and Economist at the Conference Board of Canada.
He received his undergraduate economics degree from Queen's University, his M.A. from Carleton University, and returned to Queen's for PhD studies. Ted volunteers as a member of the Investment Committee of the United Church Pension Fund and is a member of the Captain’s Committee at Scarboro Golf and Country Club.
