Summary

Allan Shapira is a retired Senior Partner from Aon’s Wealth Solutions business in Canada. Over his 48-year career with Aon (formerly Hewitt), he served as the actuary to a broad range of pension plans in both the private and public sectors, and consulted on the design, funding and administration of these programs.   

Allan has served as the Chair of the Actuarial Advisory Committee to the then Financial Services Commission of Ontario, as a member of the Ontario Minister of Finance’s Advisory Council on Pensions and Retirement Income, and as a member of the Ministry of Finance’s Stakeholder Reference Group established in connection with Ontario’s review of the solvency funding framework for defined benefit plans. He served as the actuarial advisor to the Ontario Ministry of Finance in its work with the Federal government on the enhancements made to the Canada Pension Plan.  Allan also served as a member of the Ontario Portable Benefits Advisory Panel under the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and currently sits as a member of the Ontario Financial Services Tribunal.    

Allan is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a B.Sc. (Hons) in actuarial mathematics.
