Summary

Jordan Brennan is a public policy executive with more than 20 years of experience in economic development and advocacy.

Most recently, Jordan served as Chief Economist and Vice President of Policy Development at the Insurance Bureau of Canada. In this role, he led teams of economists and researchers, tackling complex policy issues on behalf of Canada’s general insurance industry. He co-chaired Canada’s federal task force on flood insurance, contributing to critical discussions on climate resilience and disaster management.

Before that, Jordan was Chief Economist at Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector labour union. There, he led the union’s work on macroeconomic and fiscal policy while also serving as an external advisor to the Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada and Ontario’s Minister of Finance.

Jordan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from York University. Jordan closed his academic career as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School. His academic and public policy research, which focused on structural change in the North American economy, has appeared in academic journals and media outlets such as the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, National Post and Radio Canada International.

Jordan lives in Toronto’s Bloor West Village with his wife and two sons.
