Summary
A Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute, Mr. Nicholas D. Le Pan served as a Superintendent of Financial Institutions for Canada from 2001 to 2006 and as a Deputy Superintendent, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Canada (OSFI) since May 2000. He has been involved in several international and Canadian regulatory coordination efforts, including serving as Chairman of the Basel Accord Implementation Group and Vice Chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. He conducted IMF financial system assessments and provided technical assistance to a variety of countries.
He Chaired the Institute’s Financial Services Research Initiative, and was an Independent Director of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce from 2008 to 2023. He continues on the board of CIBC Bank USA. He was also Chair of the Canadian Public Accountability Board which oversees auditors of public companies and Chair of the Independent Review Committee of Brandes Investment Funds.
