Summary

With a respected career spanning over three decades including key senior leadership and Board roles across both private and public sector, Shannan brings a unique combination of financial and regulatory acumen blended with a long-term visionary mindset.

Most recently, Shannan’s role as Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Pension Plan from June of 2021 allowed her to pursue her passion of enhancing retirement security across Canada by providing strategic regulatory reform for a large plan with a diverse membership base (32,000 members).  In addition, Shannan’s experience speaking on National platforms, serving on pension boards, and volunteering on various industry committees allows her to bring innovation and best practices to improve member experiences and operational effectiveness while connecting to her community values.

Her earlier career exposure included both oversight and responsibility as Director of Total Rewards programs for a $10B company as well as actuarial experience managing a diverse portfolio of pension clients for a large global consulting firm (Aon).

Woven into Shannan’s experience, and relevant to all her roles, is her 15-years’ HR background.  After working as a compensation consulting expert, Shannan achieved her CPHR designation in 2014 and subsequently expanded her HR scope of services.

Shannan has recently retired from the corporate world and returned to those roots – continuing to consult on all things total rewards-related through her independent firm Corey HR Consulting Ltd. She has also aligned herself as a consulting partner with BoardBe so that she can empower Boards and leaders to transform their cultures to redefine the role of the organization in society.

Shannan Corey is an authentic, effective and seasoned professional with a diverse background including obtaining a B.Sc. (Statistics) from the University of Saskatchewan; an Associate Actuary designation; and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation (CPHR).
