Health Sector Economic Growth and Resilience Working Group

The diversity, innovation, and competitiveness of Canada’s healthcare industry – including pharmaceuticals, medtech and biotech, the provision of equipment and supplies, and the delivery of complex services – is a source of strength for the country. Health-related innovation drives exports, supports millions of jobs, and allows for the application of life-saving new drugs and technologies. This is a strength that must be fostered, protected, and supported in the face of a shifting global environment.

The Health Sector Economic Growth and Resilience Working Group is composed of leading experts from the public sector, business, and academia, who help guide the program and the Institute’s research in this area. The group complements the work of the Healthcare Policy Initiative with a mandate to directly assesses the market conditions and functioning of this highly complex and regulated global industry. The group focuses on improving Canadian competitiveness by examining innovation, productivity, small-business growth and scaling, and supply chains in the healthcare sector.
