The C.D. Howe Institute is pleased to announce pension policy expert Bernard Morency’s appointment as Co-Chair of the Institute’s Pension Policy Council.

Former Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of La Caisse (formerly CDPQ) and Executive Vice-President of Mercer, Mr. Morency is a Senior Fellow with the C.D. Howe Institute and has been a member of the Institute’s Pension Policy Council since 2018.

Effective immediately, he joins Co-Chair Barbara Zvan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the University Pension Plan Ontario.

“The continued success of the Canadian retirement system is a shared responsibility of governments, employers and all Canadians. The C.D. Howe Institute Pension Policy Council plays a key role in guiding, connecting and helping each one of them carry their responsibility,” says Mr. Morency. “I am deeply honoured to take on the duty of Co-Chair, and I thank past Chair Bob Baldwin for his leadership as well as congratulate him for his appointment as Fellow Emeritus at the Institute.”

In addition to his contributions to the C.D. Howe Institute, Mr. Morency is an Adjunct Professor at HEC Montréal, where he collaborates with the Retirement and Savings Institute. Mr. Morency sits on the Board of Directors for Desjardins General Insurance Group, Université Laval, Germain Hotels, and Retraite Québec. He also chairs the Investment Committee of MontClerc Capital.
