February 25, 2026 – The C.D. Howe Institute and its Board of Directors today announced that Dr. Jeremy M. Kronick will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada’s most influential think tank effective March 1st, 2026, succeeding the organization’s long-time leader, William B.P. Robson.
Following an extensive and international search for Mr. Robson’s successor, Dr. Kronick was designated as the C.D. Howe Institute’s incoming President and CEO by the Institute’s Board of Directors in December 2025.
“It is an honour to lead the C.D. Howe Institute,” said Dr. Kronick. “I look forward to working with the Institute’s talented staff and stakeholders across the country to advance its mission of raising Canadians’ living standards.”
Since joining the C.D. Howe Institute in 2015, Dr. Kronick has established himself as an authority in fields such as monetary policy and financial services. A recipient of the Canadian Economics Association’s Doug Purvis Memorial Prize for the best publication on economic policy, he has served as Vice-President, Economic Analysis and Strategy and Director of the Institute’s Centre on Financial and Monetary Policy since 2024.
“Jeremy’s deep commitment to the Institute and his proven leadership provide a strong foundation for the Institute’s next phase of growth and impact,” says Blake C. Goldring, Chair of the C.D. Howe Institute Board of Directors and Executive Chairman of AGF Management Limited.
“Jeremy has been deeply engaged in the Institute’s strategic decision-making,” said outgoing President and CEO Mr. Robson. “The C.D. Howe Institute will thrive under his leadership, and it is time for him to take the helm.”
After stepping down as President and CEO, Mr. Robson will assume the role of inaugural President Emeritus. He will also continue his association with the Institute as a Fellow-in-Residence and the initial holder of the William Robson Chair in Public Sector Governance and Accountability.
“On behalf of the Board, I extend my sincere gratitude to Bill Robson for his exceptional leadership,” says Goldring. “His dedication to rigorous research, constructive discussion, and the advancement of evidence-based public policy has strengthened outcomes for Canadians nationwide. In recognition of his remarkable contributions, we are delighted to bestow upon him the title of President Emeritus.”
