Summary

Nicholas Dahir is a Research Officer at the C.D. Howe Institute. He works on both fiscal and tax policy as well as public governance and accountability research. His research focuses on the analysis of spending and taxation policies, and on improving the transparency of fiscal documents for all three levels of government in Canada.

In 2021, he graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in Economics. Prior to joining the Institute in 2021, Nicholas served as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy, where he assisted in research related to funding First Nations child and family services, the federal debt, and the fiscal response to COVID-19. He was also a presenter and national runner up in the 2020/21 Bank of Canada’s Governor’s Challenge.
